Dr. Roland A. Tambua, M.D., known by us as ‘Rols’ has been a Mitsubishi Pajero enthusiast since December 1999, when he acquired the ride.

We asked Rols why he chose the Pajero above all other vehicles and he tells us that it was “Love at first sight.” Doc Rols has been a fan of the Mitsubishi brand for the longest time, and above all models, it was the Pajero that caught his attention. It’s safe, comfortable, spacious, an outstanding all-around vehicle for both city driving and out of town trips, and above all, very reliable. Rols also mentions that the name alone stands out and speaks for itself. “Pangalan pa lang, iba na ang dating”, he says. But wait! That’s not all. There’s more to why Rols is an advocate of the Pajero. Thus, we asked him for a list, and here’s what he came up with:
- Women love it. “Habulin sa chikas kasi iba… ang angas pa!”
- Desirability factor. “Sinasapian ako pag-nag-d-drive ako at tumataas ang ‘sex appeal’ ko.”
- It’s fun to ‘MOD’ it. “Pagnabihisan, panis ang sasakyan ni ‘Sir mo’.”
- Last but not least, owning a Pajero enables you to be a member of Pajero Club Philippines, which Rols mentions is ‘PRICELESS’.

The cockpit of this 1999 Pajero has been customized to suit it's driver, who travels up north from time-to-time.
So we asked Rols, what he loves about the club. Here’s what he said: “Sumali ako sa Pajero Club Philippines noong January 2011. Bago pa lang ako nun at na-welcome na ako agad. Dun pa nga kami sa bahay ni sir Toti (Sanchez) at feeling ‘at home’ na ako. Sobrang okey yung mga members kasi para silang magkapamilya, at sinama na nila ako kaagad sa samahan nila.” (I joined Pajero Club Philippines last January 2011. I was new to the group and I felt welcomed the moment I met the guys. The first meeting I attended was held at Toti Sanchez’s house and they all made me feel at home. The members seemed like brothers and they immediately made me feel like part of the family.) But ‘brotherhood’ is not just it, there’s more about joining Pajero Club PH as per Doc Rols- “Pag sumali ka sa PCP, madagdagan ang kaalaman mo paano pa mas papogihin at ayusin ang ating mga Pajero. At the same time, ma-i-share ang ‘passion’ at pagka-addict sa Pajero.” (Joining PCP will help you take care of your Pajero. You’ll know what to fix, and you’ll know how to mod it properly. At the same time, you’ll get people to share your enthusiasm for the Pajero with.)

Doc Rols’ Pajero, whom he refers to as “P.J.”, is a sight for sore-eyes. However, it’s not just good to look at, it’s got performance written all over it. Here’s what Rols has installed on this daily-driven truck:
- Bilstein Shocks
- 20-inch rims
- Turbo timer
- Volt stabilizer / volt meter
- Sound setup and lighting by Quikustoms
- Sound deadening of all doors and flooring (DIY)
- Blue LED Interior (DIY)
- GPS
- Headlight & Signal Light Tint (DIY)
- Projector Headlights
- LED bulbs on all signal lights
- New upholstered seating by Boy C

This doctor’s ride may just seem like a city slicker, but it’s been places, even as far as Pagudpud up north. Rols tells us that there’s still a long list of places he wants to take P.J., and that he’s even looking forward to the next Pajero Club fun run – more exercise for his beloved. “The Pajero is an SUV to be driven, and I love driving it. Sana dumami pa mga meets and runs ng PCP para mas ma-enjoy ko pa si P.J.”

So Rols, can we buy your Pajero? The answer is a straight-out ‘NO’ as this Pajero is for keeps, he says. “Magkasama kami ni ‘P.J.’ hanggang pagtanda ko. I-re-restore ko na lang sya at hindi ako magsasawa. Kahit lumipas pa ang another 20 years, sisiguraduhin ko na Pogi pa din siya.”
